Important! - Workplace Database Access

Many hospitals and other workplaces implement internet security settings that block access to sites such as our library databases.  If you encounter an issue logging in to a library database at work, check with your employer's IT Department about whether they can unblock access, or login to the library databases from a home or other non-employer network.

PUC library has now upgraded the CINAHL with Full Text database to CINAHL PLUS with Full Text.  This upgrade includes expanded content and additional search features.  Explore this powerful tool for nursing research!  

Nursing Databases

The following is a list of key databases in nursing research.  Click on the database name to be directed to the database. 

Access to all PUC databases is also available through the library's home page. You can view the databases by subject (Nursing and Healthor alphabetically.  

Note that some databases contain citations to articles without a PDF full-text link.  To check for access to these articles, click on the FIND IT @ PUC Library link as described here.

  • CINAHL Plus with Full Text
    CINAHL Plus with Full Text contains full-text and many more abstracts for over 3,800 journals from 1981 to the present.
  • Cochrane Library
    The Cochrane Library is a collection of six databases that contain evidence, including the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.
  • Cochrane Library Database Tutorial
  • Health Source: Nursing
    Health Source Nursing contains full-text access to over 500 nursing publications and abstracts from an additional more than 800 publications
  • Joanna Briggs Institute Database
    Joanna Briggs Institute contains the JBI Library of Systematic Reviews, Best Practice Information sheets, Evidence Summaries and Evidence Based Recommended Practices.
  • Joanna Briggs Institute Tutorial
  • MEDLINE (EBSCO)
    Medline was created by the National Library of Medicine, and is a source to search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals.
  • MEDLINE (OVID)
    MEDLINE is a premier source for bibliographic and abstract coverage of biomedical literature. This link connects to the OVID platform.
  • Nursing and Allied Health Collection
    Nursing and Allied Health Collection contains details on nearly every kind of nursing application with nearly 6 million articles related to the specialized care, treatment and management of all types of patients.
  • Nursing Resource Center
    Contains journal abstracts, sample nursing care plans, medical assessments, disease overviews and medical illustrations.
  • PsycInfo
    PsycINFO contains more than one million citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations and technical reports, all in the field of psychology as well as related disciplines.
  • PsycArticles
    Contains over 150,000 Articles from nearly 80 journals published by the American Psychological Association.
  • PubMed
    PubMed comprises more than 24 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books.
  • SAGE Journals Online  
      
    SAGE Journals Online contains nursing journals that are unavailable in other database. To search for content in these journals, check the "Sage Journals Available to Me" radio button on the advanced search page.
  • Science Direct
    ScienceDirect contains full-text from over 20 scholarly nursing journals along with articles and chapters from more than 2,500 journals and almost 20,000 books.
  • Scopus
    Scopus is a comprehensive scientific, medical, technical and social science database with over 19,000 titles from more than 5,000 international publishers.
  • Web of Science
    Web of Science provides access to integrated, multidisciplinary research. It includes indexes covering 8,700 scholarly and technical journals completely and 13,300 selectively, in more than 230 disciplines.
  • Wiley Online Library
    Full-text from over 50 scholarly nursing journals.
